About me

I am a first year undergraduate working towards a Bachelor of Education (Primary). Teaching will be my second career after spending almost 20 years working in the graphic design and advertising industries. Some aspects of my earlier career will benefit my transition to teaching. However, it will be my experiences as a parent of two children that will stand me in good stead for questioning my assumptions and stepping outside my comfort zone in the classroom.

When I am not studying, I enjoy cooking and gardening, and I combine these two interests by preserving excess produce. My favourite recipe for depleting the end of season tomato glut is Aussie Style Tomato Relish.

I enjoy photography and like watching the changes that come with each season, particularly when the garden is ablaze with autumn colour. My long-term gardening goal is to be in a position to cut a bunch of flowers at any time throughout the year. I am gradually getting closer to achieving this goal, although heavy frost and my inattention to watering have been known to thwart my ambitions.

A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust. – Gertrude Jekyll

I also enjoy listening to music but, unfortunately, time, distance and other life commitments prevent me from frequenting live shows these days. However, here is a track by an artist who caught my attention recently.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
